The mission of the Spiritual Heritage Education Network Inc. is to provide educational access to the thinking and findings of those enlightened beings (prophets, sages, philosophers, scientists and seers), who have spent their lives studying the nature of humankind and its relationships in the universe.
The peak spiritual experiences of these noble exemplars comprise the core spirituality of all religions and it is totally unifying. By its very nature, it is inclusive of all beings and it is meaningful to all human beings, irrespective of faith or the lack of it. The core spirituality proclaims the underlying oneness of all that exists - the unity in diversity. The diversity that we see all around us is a merely a varied expression of one underlying reality that people call by different names. This reality is the ground of being of all that exists. And that understanding is extremely meaningful to human beings. The core spirituality is the religion of all humanity. It is The Religion. Individual religions are merely its varied expressions. Individual religions lead to religious identities. At their worst, religious identities lead to tribalism. The Religion leads to global human identities. Spirituality integrates humanity whereas individual religions tend to fragment it. We consider the core spirituality (The Religion) as the spiritual heritage of humanity and worthy of preservation as well as propagation. It can integrate humanity and help us face the grave human and environmental problems caused by the fragmentation of humanity today. Humankind must learn to transcend a religion to The Spirituality of Oneness inherent at the core of all religions as their essence. This journey of transcendence beyond what we identify as our own is a matter of harmonizing our emotion with our understanding. Emotion is but natural; it develops by itself. Understanding is a matter of learning and education; it does not develop automatically. They mediate and harmonize between themselves when both are equally developed.
“We want to lead mankind to the place where there are neither the Vedas nor the Bible nor the Qur’an. Yet this has to be done by harmonizing the Vedas, the Bible, and the Qur’an. Mankind ought to be taught that religions are but the varied expression of The Religion, which is Oneness, so that each may choose the path that suits him best.” ~~Swami Vivekananda
