Conference Program and People

The program for this program has been designed with the purpose of maximizing the practical usefulness of the conference. The quality and quantity of learning that the participants experientially internalize during the conference is a measure for such usefulness.

Learning is a three step process beginning with listening to a presentation. The second step is reflection which involves repeated revisiting of what was heard to successively draw its deeper meaning. It is in this step that true learning begins. When the subject matter is as profound as spirituality, reflection too is not enough as it fails to unlock all the meaning hidden behind words. Reflection then needs to be followed by deep contemplation in an ambience of mental stillness and calm in which the first two steps are revisited.

We realise that participants live a life too busy to follow up listening to presentations with later reflection and contemplation missing out on practical usefulness of profound presentations. With this realisation, we are changing the way we used to run our conferences in the past.

The proceeding will be characterised by a contemplative ambience of non-competitive, non-judgemental sharing and attentive listening and exchange. The conference will open with a session in which our process guides will facilitate contemplatively sharing by all the participants of their personal thoughts and feelings on the theme of the conference. We will then have presentation sessions with invited speakers: four in all during the two day conference, two on the first day and two on the second.

Each presentation session will roughly be of three hours in duration divided successively into periods of centering the mind in preparation for attentive listening, the presentation ending with a Q&A by invited presenters, a break, a period of guided internalization of the presentation and a period of contemplative mutual learning by the participants  as guided by process guides.
