Jim Profit is a Jesuit priest living and working at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre north of the city of Guelph. The Centre consists of a 600 acre property with wetlands, woods and farmland. It is the home of a retreat house, an organic farm, a Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) programme, and an ecology ministry.

Our modern industrial age has little appreciation for the experience of the Divine within the Earth. Even many religious people of the western world are not comfortable worshiping or praying to a God of the Earth. The ongoing ecological crisis is the result. The root of the ecological crisis is a spiritual crisis.

Nevertheless, there is a long multi-religious tradition that understands the Earth to be sacred, revealing the Divine. There is a growing appreciation for these religious traditions, and a growing desire to connect spiritually with the Earth. This just may enable humans to participate in the healing of the Earth.

In this seminar, Jim will share from his experiences and his own spiritual journey fostered by a love of the outdoors from the time of his youth. Jim presented this seminar at the University of Waterloo to an audience of 17 on Nov 24, 2005 and to an audience of 25 on Oct. 18, 2006.
