Inbuilt Instincts

Our inbuilt natural instincts largely run our lives. They are based primarily upon the phylogenetic memory of various life forms through which we travelled in the course of our evolution to a prenatal existence. These instincts are termed survival instincts. They are divisive in nature and they have a tight hold on us.

We are also born with a faint memory of non-differentiated existence of the totality of the universe in the beginning of its creation. That experience predated that of individually differentiated existence by a few billion years. These instincts are unitive in nature. Because of them, we naturally at times feel compassion towards others.

We need to understand our separative and unifying instincts and devise ways to to raise our consciousness from the tight hold of our separative instincts to live by the unifying ones for peace and harmony in the universe.
