Imam Habeeb Alli of Toronto, is originally from Guyana. In his younger days, he looked for spirituality in India and finally came to Islam. India is where he had the option to formally learn Islam, Arabic and Urdu.
Habeeb’s mother was Hindu and father a Muslim. His neighbors were Catholics. He went to a Christian school. He was exposed to various religions. In addition to being an Imam, he serves as a Chaplain in the prison system. He believes that interfaith dialogue is congruent with Islam.
